I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but I want to spend Boxing Day with Tom Cruise and Nazis. Well, with Tom Cruise’s Nazi movie, Valkyrie. In case you missed the first trailer, Valkyrie follows a plot inside the Nazi party to assassinate Adolf Hitler. It’s directed by Bryan Singer, the man behind The Usual Suspects and X-Men. Check out the final trailer below, and get ready to spend December 26th in a movie theater:

I’ve got a soft spot for the cello. And who doesn’t love Metallica? So let’s see what happens when you take one guy, a cello, and three overdubs, and have him take on “Unforgiven”:
So over the last decade or so MTV has turned into a cesspool of reality shows, celeb-poitation, and general culture-rotting material. But if you think back hard enough you can probably remember a time when MTV showed music videos. GOOD music videos. When MTV mattered. When getting your song on Headbangers Ball or getting a feature on Unplugged meant you had arrived. For those of you who wax nostalgic for those days (like I do), today is a day to rejoice, raise your hands in a rock salute, and rock the fuck out. For today MTV has made their immense catalog of music videos available, for free, on the internet. HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!!!
Ok, I’ll admit, I’ve spent a bit too much time just poking around the site tonight, reminiscing. I used to love MTV back in the day. So this new site really has me looking back. To celebrate, here’s a few selections from the library:
The Buggles – “Video Killed the Radio Star” (the first video MTV ever played, on August 1st, 1981)

When the teaser trailer for Fox Searchlight’s biopic Notorious came out a while back it looked kind of intriguing. It’s a good story: a young inner-city kid seemingly escapes a dangerous lifestyle by becoming one of the most successful rappers in history, only to be struck down by the type of violence he tried to escape. The music is classic, with cuts from Biggie’s canon filling the soundtrack. And who doesn’t want to see a larger-than-life character on the big screen?
The first full trailer for Notorious is out now, and while my excitement is somewhat tempered, I’m holding out hope. Unlike my friends over at Analogue, I think it might be pretty entertaining. Check out the trailer below, and let me know what you think.
Call me crazy, but when somebody says “Canton, Ohio”, the first thing that comes to mind is the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But maybe not for long. Canton-based Lovedrug is trying to change that, and judging by the strength of their upcoming album The Sucker Punch Show they may well succeed.

The release date for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince may have been pushed back until next summer, but Warner Brothers doesn’t want anyone to forget about it. So they’ve released an international trailer that shows quite a bit more than the domestic version. It certainly looks like the movie will capture the book’s incredibly dark tone, which should make for a good summer movie.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince comes to theaters July 17th, 2009.
Dr. Pepper is living up to their promise to give everyone in the U.S. (except Slash and Buckethead) a free drink if Guns N’ Roses actually release Chinese Democracy this year. To get your free Dr. Pepper you need to go to the company’s website on November 23rd (the day the album gets released) and fill out some information. In four to six weeks you’ll get your free soda.
Slash, if you’re reading, just drop me a line and I’ll get you one.
With Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and The Dark Knight out of the way, Watchment has taken over as the most anticipated upcoming comic movie. Despite the movie’s ongoing legal battles, Warner Brothers is moving ahead with the marketing and still maintains the March 3rd release date.
The latest output of the marketing machine is this new footage, released at Spike TV’s Scream awards. It’s basically a remix of the first trailer, with some new footage added.
With what I’ve seen from the movie so far, I’m definitely hoping all the legal issues get resolved and Watchmen actually comes out on time.
Anyone else out there going through Lost withdrawal? I know I am. We still have almost four months before the fifth season starts in February, but ABC has started the marketing machine up already. The first promo for the season is out, and it predictably gives us just enough information to be intriguing, but not enough to figure out what’s going on.
We’re getting dangerously close to the October 31st release date for Kevin Smith’s Zack and Miri Make a Porno, but there’s still time for one last trailer:
