Remember a while back when I told you Marvel was looking to adapt Thor to the big screen? At the time the announced director was Matthew Vaughan. But apparently things have changed. Now Marvel Studios is in negotiations with serious actor/director Kenneth Branaugh to direct the movie, due to hit theaters in the summer of 2010.
I like Thor, but I was skeptical of how a movie was going to turn out. Probably because of previous attempts like these:
But with Branagh on board I think this could work. I’m guessing he’ll focus on developing the characters rather than just giving us two hours of video game action. And if there’s one thing we learned from this summer’s crop of comic book movies it’s that characters make a movie, not explosions. (Are you listening Michael Bay?)

I kind of hope they go with this look http://marshianchronicles.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/thor_1.jpg over his “classic” look. The new look makes him look like a badass. Of course the biggest question now is who are they going to cast as Thor himself?

He might not want to get so close to type casting himself. I mean, he played a beefy barbarian with a sword in He-Man. Would he really want to play a beefy Norse god with a hammer? They’re pretty similar. Dude has to think about his career.
