Author, television producer, and filmmaker Michael Crichton died Tuesday at age 68 after a battle with cancer. A Harvard-educated doctor, Crichton left medicine to pursue writing. His books, including Jurassic Park, typically served as cautionary tales about the unexpected repercussions of unchecked scientific progress. In addition to his writing, he directed films like The Great Train Robbery and Runaway, and teamed with Steven Spielberg to create ER, which has seemingly been on TV forever. CNN has more details.
