Call me crazy, but when somebody says “Canton, Ohio”, the first thing that comes to mind is the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But maybe not for long. Canton-based Lovedrug is trying to change that, and judging by the strength of their upcoming album The Sucker Punch Show they may well succeed.
Lovedrug formed in the summer of 2002 in Canton. Since then they’ve put out three full-length albums and a couple of EPs, and they’ve toured with a diverse group of bands. The Killers, Eisley, Sam Phillips, and Robert Plant don’t have a whole lot in common, but Lovedrug has played with all of them. That’s a real testament to how their music is like a good pair of jeans: it’s comfortable, it’s familiar, and it goes with everything.

“Sometimes you know, you’ve gotta let it all out.” Ain’t that the truth. This track does a good job of doing just that.

I just love the groove to this song. Chick chick chick boom. It’s almost hypnotizing. The underlying organ completes the effect. Then the buildup in the chorus breaks the spell and reminds you that this is a rock n’ effing roll band.
