Random Cover of the Week – A Slow Version of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass”

Charlottesville, VA's Old School Freight Train
I love it when bands take a classic song and completely re-imagine it. In general Old School Freight Train is a band with their roots firmly in the country/bluegrass/folk world. So it’s cool to hear them take on Blondie’s classic disco-ish tune “Heart of Glass” and turn it into a slow lament. Check out the video for the cover below, where the song provides the soundtrack for a reenactment of the Civil War battle of Rio Hill:

“Heart of Glass” is the opening track on Old School Freight Train’s latest album, Six Years. You can learn more about the album and the band on their MySpace page.

This is a wonderful version of “Heart of Glass”. I can understand the words! Thanks.
